Martineau River Outfitters
We’ve built our business on providing people with a home to hunt from and by treating our guests like they are family.
It’s the real Canadian hunting experience tucked into the Northern Saskatchewan community of Pierceland.
Word-of-mouth businesses may be “less common” in this digital world, but our business was built on reputation. We deliver high-quality hunts by respecting the herds and the forest. We’re known for delivering big deer.

Martineau River Outfitters
Where you’ll find the biggest Canadian Whitetail
We like to harvest mature deer allowing the young deer to develop and reach their full potential. A young buck seen during a hunt with potential at a particular stand is left for the hunter at a future time.
Why Martineau River is the premier
Saskatchewan Hunting Outfitter
BIG DEER
MRO puts guests on the big ones. It’s just how it is. It’s what we are known for.
HERD MANAGEMENT
Minerals, nourishment and monitoring. We respect the herd and work with its ebbs and flows.
EXPERIENCE
We weren’t born yesterday. Far from it. So, with age comes wisdom. We know the bush best.

Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve been helping hunters experience Canadian Whitetail and Black Bear hunts for a long time, here are some of the most frequently asked questions.
How do I bring my gun into Canada?
Fill out a Non-Resident Firearms Declaration form before you arrive at your entry point into Canada to save you time. A Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) customs officer must witness your signature. The fee is $25.
What is the easiest way to get to Martineau River Outfitters?
We recommend flying into Edmonton International Airport (or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). From there, you'll need to rent a vehicle. You can input our lodge addresses into any gps or map system. Otherwise, reach out and we'll provide directions.
What is the largest whitetail that a Martineau River Outfitter guest has harvested?
The largest whitetail at MRO was in the 220's.
How many hunters do you have at your lodge at once?
We have three lodge locations that can accommodate 6 hunters per week.
How easy is it to get across the Canadian border?
Generally, crossing the border is non-problematic. If you have a criminal record you will want to explore the different pardons required in order to successfully cross. If you are bringing a firearm, there is a firearms declaration that will be required. We have links to the documents required on our bear and whitetail booking pages.
Martineau River Outfitters isn’t just another name on the map—it’s one of the oldest family‑run Saskatchewan Whitetail Deer Outfitters, it was founded in 1989 and is still operated by the Nault family. For over three decades, the Naults have guided hunters through these forests and fields, building a legacy rooted in respect for the land and its deer.
As trusted Saskatchewan Deer Outfitters, we’ve seen the ebb and flow of whitetail populations and adapted our habitat management to keep herds healthy. Booking with Martineau River means tapping into decades of local knowledge: where the bucks bed down, and when the rut really kicks in.
Our family camp still operates much like it did on opening day—cozy comforts, home‑cooked meals, and genuine hospitality from folks who grew up here. We aren’t a corporate chain jumping from one property to the next; we’re stewards of this land, accountable to our future generations. Which just makes for better hunting.
Whether you’re chasing your first buck or after a trophy whitetail, choosing Martineau River Outfitters means you're stepping into a tradition of Saskatchewan outfitting. Reach out today and see why our family’s commitment to ethical, sustainable hunting continues to set us apart among Saskatchewan Whitetail Deer Outfitters.
Experience Saskatchewan Deer Hunting
Planning a deer hunt in Saskatchewan doesn't need to be stressful. But if you're anything like other guests we've had, you've probably got some questions that are tough to answer. Maybe wondering if your guide really knows the country, if the deer numbers are healthy, or if we’ll spend more time waiting in camp than spotting bucks.
At Martineau River Outfitters, we’ve spent decades tuning into the rhythms of our boreal backyard and the Saskatchewan prairies. Our family‑run camps combine hands‑on habitat care with honest, boots‑on‑the‑ground scouting. Before you arrive, we track herd numbers, adjust our conservation plans and make sure every hunt helps keep whitetail populations strong.
Once you’re here, expect small‑groups led by guides who genuinely love the land. We’ll share tips on wind and stand placement that only years of deer‑hunting in Saskatchewan can teach. Whether you’re chasing your first buck or hunting with old friends, we tailor each trip to your pace and goals.
