Martineau River Outfitters operates in over 500,000 acres of untouched wilderness. With three lodges to choose from, all equipped with modern amenities and access to cell service, we ensure that your stay is comfortable and convenient, even in the heart of the wilderness.

Embarking on a black bear hunt with us is an adventure like no other. The day begins with a hearty homemade breakfast, followed by a guided journey into the deep forests. Hunters are positioned in strategic blinds, set up in areas known for high bear activity. Our guides stay with you throughout the hunt, offering advice and support to enhance your hunting experience.

Most of our guests fly into the Edmonton International Airport out of Alberta. There is about 4 hours of driving required to get to the Martineau River Outfitters lodge, you’ll be able to rent a vehicle right at the airport to make that part of your journey.

Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the paperwork required at the border if you are bringing a firearm. As well, if you have any previous Criminal Records, you may require a pardon in order to successfully travel into Canada.

How do I bring my gun into Canada?

Fill out a Non-Resident Firearms Declaration form before you arrive at your entry point into Canada to save you time. A Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) customs officer must witness your signature. The fee is $25.

What is the easiest way to get to Martineau River Outfitters?

We recommend flying into Edmonton International Airport (or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). From there, you'll need to rent a vehicle. You can input our lodge addresses into any gps or map system. Otherwise, reach out and we'll provide directions.

What is the largest whitetail that a Martineau River Outfitter guest has harvested?

The largest whitetail at MRO was in the 220's.

How many hunters do you have at your lodge at once?

We have three lodge locations that can accommodate 6 hunters per week.

How easy is it to get across the Canadian border?

Generally, crossing the border is non-problematic. If you have a criminal record you will want to explore the different pardons required in order to successfully cross. If you are bringing a firearm, there is a firearms declaration that will be required. We have links to the documents required on our bear and whitetail booking pages.
